Matthew Kuntzi battled type one diabetes his entire life. He was in need of a kidney transplant. His wife McKenna wanted to donate her kidney to her husband but his was not a match for Matthew. The United Network for Organ Sharing found someone who was a match in New Jersey. Then the person in New Jersey had a donor who’s kidney went to match in Pennsylvania. Finally, the person in Pennsylvania had a donor who’s kidney was a match for Matthew.

Arizona Woman Inspired to Make Life-Saving Kidney Donation to Stranger

Last fall, Katie Burris was watching an old episode of Grey’s Anatomy when she had a life-changing idea.

“It was something I didn’t really know you could do, but then someone just randomly on that Grey’s episode decided to donate a kidney,” Burris, 27, told the Arizona Republic. “Then it hit me: If she can donate, could I donate?”
