Willem Van der Werf, MD, FACS, joined Doctors Koep, Cashman, and Brink in February 2016 from a successful transplant practice in Salt Lake City, UT where he served as Chief of the Division of Transplant Surgery and the Surgical Director of Adult and Pediatric Liver Transplantation at Intermountain and Primary Children’s Medical Centers.
Dr. Willem Van der Werf currently serves as Chief of the Division of Transplant Surgery and Surgical Director of Pediatric Kidney and Liver Transplant at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Dr. Willem Van der Werf is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Willem Van der Werf received his medical degree from University of California, San Francisco and completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital. He completed a research fellowship at Harvard Medical School and an abdominal transplant surgery fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Dr. Willem Van der Werf is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Van Der Werf has published numerous articles.
Dr. Van Der Werf's expertise includes transplantation and complex hepatobiliary surgery in adult and pediatric patients. He also performs minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic living donor nephrectomies, distal pancreatectomies and liver resections.
